2017 Hurricane Season To Officially Begin

Cozumel Municipality Prepared …

June 1st marks the official start of Hurricane Season in the Caribbean, and although meteorologists are predicting a below normal active storm year this year members of the Cozumel municipal Hurricane Preparedness Committee are assuring the public they are ready., and assure that visitors to the island will receive updated impending storm information, as well as access to various consulates and embassies.

The general recommendation for tourists is to leave Cozumel and return to their point of origin before experiencing any storm impact. Hurricane season runs from June – October. For a quick summary of the 2017 predictions, check out this Accuweather page.

El municipio de Cozumel se prepara. . .

Junio 1º marca el inicio de la temporada de huracanes en el Caribe, y a pesar de que los meteorólogos pronostican un año de menor actividad a la normal, los miembros del Comité Contra Huracanes en Cozumel aseguran ante el público que se encuentran preparados y que los visitantes recibirán información actualizada en caso de una tormenta, as como acceso a diversas representaciones consulares y embajadas.


La recomendación general para los turistas es que salgan de Cozumel regresando a su punto de origen antes de que llegue el impacto de la tormenta. La temporada de huracanes va de Junio a Octubre. Para ver un resumen sobre los pronósticos 2017, echen un vistazo a la página de Accuweather
