Emergency Responders, Lifeguards & Firefighters Prepared…

“Semana Santa,”or Easter Holy week, as it’s called in English,  is considered to be the busiest week of the year for national tourism here in Cozumel.  Municipal officials have been working closely together to plan a strategy involving increased vigilance and safety that allows the island’s visitors and residents to  enjoy a fun and safe Easter holiday.

Cozumel’s Municipal Civil Protection, which involves firefighters, emergency responders and even lifeguards have been working on a plan that involves increased vigilance on both the beaches and the downtown areas.

Island hotels are expecting occupancy rates to soar.    According to a July 2017 article in the Mexico Daily News, the State of Quintana Roo, where Cozumel is located, sports the highest hotel occupancy rates of the entire nation.  With an average of 88% occupancy, Quintana  Roo stood well above the national average of 61%
