Cozumel Celebrates 500 year anniversary …

May 3rd, 2018 marked the 500th anniversary of the arrival of a group of Spanish explorers arrived on Cozumel’s coast.  Legend has it that 3 days later on, May 6th the first catholic mass was celebrated in Mexico and it took place on Cozumel Island.

To mark the occasion, the blessing of the new Santa Cruz de Cuzamil Chapel took place on May 3rd, 2018.  The new Chapel has been under construction for some time, with the first stage being completed just in time for this blessing, which will start a series of religious events including a Eucharistic Congress with magisterial

conferences and other religious activities.

The completion of the Santa Cruz de Cuzamil is expected to finish later this year.

Para marcar la ocasión, el 3 de mayo, 2018 se bendijo la nueva capilla Santa Cruz de Cuzamil. Esta capilla ha estado construyéndose desde hace tiempo; la primera etapa concluyó con esta bendición que da inicio a una serie de eventos religiosos que incluyen un congreso eucarístico con conferencias magistrales y otras actividades religiosas.


Se espera que la construcción de la capilla Santa Cruz de Cuzamil concluya a finales de este año.
