Easter week is the busiest travel week of the year for national tourism here in Mexico. Cozumel hotel occupancy rates are expected to rise to approximately 85%. Since many of these national visitors arrive with their entire families, Cozumel ferries have traditionally expanded routes on passenger ferries, and offered discounts on the car ferries. This year will be no exception. In fact, Transbordadores del Caribe, the company who operates the car ferry will begin a program entitled “Ferry Vacaciones” where compact cars will pay only $300 pesos to cruise to Cozumel. Furthermore, the company is providing that special discounted price to 50 vehicles per route. The discount is applicable only for cars with a maximum length of 5.5 meters and does not apply to either cars or trucks.
Starting on April 11th, both passenger ferry operators, Ultramar and Cruceros Maritimos del Caribe will augment their service with additional routes. This will include a 8 am and 1 pm departure from Cozumel, and a 9 am and 2 pm departure from Playa del Carmen.
