Marine Control Tower to be Rehabilited

North Tower in Puerto Abrigo to be operational in January 2019….


Officials from the Cozumel Port Authority, ApiQroo, have recently announced that plans are in the works to invest 13 million pesos to remodel and rehabilitate the Control Tower and Marine Traffic Control Center, or Torre de Control y Tráfico Marítimo, located at the northern entrance to Puerto Abrigo.


The building has not been used since 2015, however after the remodel it is expected to be staffed by Mexican Navy personnel who will use their skills to

monitor maritime activity and detect suspicious vessels.


Operations have been tentatively scheduled to start in January 2019.

En fechas recientes, funcionarios de la Autoridad Portuaria de Cozumel, ApiQroo, informaron que se encuentran en marcha los planes de inversión de 13 millones de pesos para remodelar y rehabilitar la torre de control y centro de control de tráfico marítimo que se localizan a la entrada del Puerto de Abrigo.

después de la remodelación ésta sea provista de personal de la Marina Armada de México quienes utilizarán sus técnicas para vigilar actividad marítima y detectar embarcaciones sospechosas.


En forma tentativa, el funcionamiento ha sido programado para comenzar en Enero del año 2019.
