Red Cross Race in Cozumel: Uniting the Community for a National Cause.

The Mexican Red Cross Cozumel branch is preparing for a highly significant event: the fourth edition of its annual footrace. This year, the initiative takes on new significance as it joins the nationwide “All Mexico Saving Lives” movement, which seeks to mobilize the population of 32 states in a joint and simultaneous effort to support the worthy institution. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 6, starting at 6:00 p.m. from the Municipal Palace.

The race, more than just a sporting event, has established itself as one of the main sources of fundraising for the Cozumel Red Cross. Andrea Martel Delbouis, president of the board of directors, emphasized the importance of citizen participation in these types of events. “All proceeds go to the Red Cross, specifically to equip our first responders and also our mobile units, our ambulances,” he stated. The need for up-to-date equipment in optimal condition is a constant priority, as it allows volunteers to respond more effectively to emergencies, saving lives and providing quality care to the community.

The “All Mexico Saving Lives” movement is an unprecedented effort that seeks to create a network of solidarity throughout the country. According to Martel Delbouis, 32 races are expected to be held in a coordinated manner between September 6 and 7. This synchronization not only enhances the impact of the fundraising, but also sends a message of unity and commitment to the humanitarian values ​​of the Red Cross. In Cozumel, the call to participate is strong, with the conviction that no one is exempt from needing the services of an ambulance or paramedics at some point in their life.

The race route has been designed to be accessible and attractive to all participants. With 3, 5, and 10-kilometer options, the route starts at the Municipal Palace and runs along the picturesque seafront, offering runners spectacular views of the sea. The return point is located at the military air base, ensuring a safe and well-marked route.

Registration for this charity event is now open. For a cost of $300 pesos, participants will receive a complete kit that includes a high-quality T-shirt with Dri-Fit technology, a commemorative medal, and their runner number. Additionally, they will be guaranteed adequate hydration throughout the route. The president highlighted the excellent quality of the T-shirt, which adds value to the participants’ contribution.

An important aspect of this race is its inclusive nature. Unlike traditional races, this is a recreational, non-competitive race, designed to bring people of all ages and physical conditions together. Families are encouraged to participate together, whether jogging, running, or simply walking. The event is so friendly that children on skates or bicycles are allowed to participate, as well as pets. “We can do it as a family, with children, with pets,” said Martel del Bui, highlighting that the festive atmosphere of the boardwalk, with the presence of tourists and cheerleaders, will make the experience unforgettable.

The Cozumel Red Cross has issued an open call to all citizens to join this worthy cause. The race is not only an opportunity to exercise and enjoy an outdoor event, but also to make a tangible contribution to strengthening an institution vital to the safety and well-being of the community. Each person’s participation represents a “grain of sand” that is transformed into protective equipment, rescue tools, and ultimately, lives saved. This September 6th, Cozumel will be dressed in solidarity to run, walk, and jog for those who need it most.

Carrera de la Cruz Roja en Cozumel: Uniendo a la Comunidad por una Causa Nacional.

La Cruz Roja Mexicana, delegación Cozumel, se prepara para un evento de gran relevancia: la cuarta edición de su carrera pedestre anual. Este año, la iniciativa cobra un nuevo significado al unirse al movimiento a nivel nacional “Todo México Salvando Vidas”, que busca movilizar a la población de 32 estados de la República en un esfuerzo conjunto y simultáneo para apoyar a la benemérita institución. El evento está programado para el sábado 6 de septiembre, con salida a las 6:00 de la tarde desde el Palacio Municipal.

La carrera, más que un simple evento deportivo, se ha consolidado como una de las principales fuentes de recaudación de fondos para la Cruz Roja de Cozumel. Andrea Martel Delbouis, presidenta del consejo directivo, subrayó la importancia de la participación ciudadana en este tipo de eventos. “Todo lo recaudado se va para beneficio de la Cruz Roja, específicamente para poder equipar a nuestros socorristas de primer contacto y también a nuestras unidades móviles, nuestras ambulancias”, afirmó. La necesidad de contar con equipo actualizado y en óptimas condiciones es una prioridad constante, ya que permite a los voluntarios responder de manera más efectiva a las emergencias, salvando vidas y brindando atención de calidad a la comunidad.

El movimiento “Todo México Salvando Vidas” es un esfuerzo sin precedentes que busca crear una red de solidaridad a lo largo del país. Según Martel Delbouis, se espera que 32 carreras se lleven a cabo de manera coordinada entre el 6 y 7 de septiembre. Esta sincronización no solo potencia el impacto de la recaudación, sino que también envía un mensaje de unidad y compromiso con los valores humanitarios de la Cruz Roja. En Cozumel, el llamado a participar es fuerte, con la convicción de que nadie está exento de necesitar los servicios de una ambulancia o de los paramédicos en algún momento de su vida.

La ruta de la carrera ha sido diseñada para ser accesible y atractiva para todos los participantes. Con opciones de 3, 5 y 10 kilómetros, el recorrido parte del Palacio Municipal y se extiende a lo largo del pintoresco malecón, ofreciendo a los corredores vistas espectaculares del mar. El punto de retorno se ubica en la base aérea militar, garantizando un trayecto seguro y bien señalizado.

Las inscripciones para este evento solidario ya están abiertas. Por un costo de $300 pesos, los participantes recibirán un kit completo que incluye una playera de alta calidad con tecnología Dri-Fit, una medalla conmemorativa y su número de corredor. Además, se garantizará la hidratación necesaria a lo largo de la ruta. La presidenta destacó la excelente calidad de la playera, lo que añade valor a la contribución de los participantes.

Un aspecto importante de esta carrera es su carácter inclusivo. A diferencia de las competencias tradicionales, esta es una carrera recreativa y no competitiva, diseñada para que personas de todas las edades y condiciones físicas puedan unirse. Se anima a las familias a participar juntas, ya sea trotando, corriendo o simplemente caminando. El evento es tan amigable que se permite la participación de niños en patines o bicicleta, así como la inclusión de mascotas. “Podemos hacerlo en familia, con niños, con mascotas”, mencionó Martel del Bui, destacando que el ambiente festivo del malecón, con la presencia de turistas y porristas, hará de la experiencia algo inolvidable.

La Cruz Roja de Cozumel ha hecho una convocatoria abierta a toda la ciudadanía para que se sume a esta noble causa. La carrera no solo es una oportunidad para hacer ejercicio y disfrutar de un evento al aire libre, sino también de contribuir de manera tangible al fortalecimiento de una institución vital para la seguridad y el bienestar de la comunidad. La participación de cada persona representa un “granito de arena” que se transforma en equipo de protección, herramientas de rescate y, en última instancia, en vidas salvadas. Este 6 de septiembre, Cozumel se vestirá de solidaridad para correr, caminar y trotar por aquellos que más lo necesitan.
