Additionally, it’s expected that this year Cozumel will beat out Nassau, Bahamas for the coveted spot of World’’s Top Cruise Destination.  According to an email from the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) President, Cozumel can expect 3.39 million visitors this year, a drastic increase from 2011’s 2.51 million.

Mexico News Daily attributes this rise to the fact that Mexico’s east coast enjoys lower crime rates than the rest of the country.  Cancun also boasts the nation’s second largest airport, which is also the top destination for travelers from the USA in Mexico.
