Humane Society of Cozumel Island Volunteer Program
The Humane Society of Cozumel Island would like to welcome Joei StGermain to its scheduled volunteer rotation. Joei has been a regular at the HSCI over the past few years lending a hand when and wherever needed. She will now serve as our liaison when people come to the HSCI looking to spend part of their day as a volunteer or just to drop off donations and take a tour. The HSCI is looking for more able bodies to work in to the volunteer rotation. This means you would be on a schedule for one day a week lending a paw to our staff to deal with the day to day goings on. Here are a few of the things we ask of our volunteers.
- Throwing a pillow on the floor of the catteries, sitting down and playing with the cats and kittens. This helps socialize our adoption candidates and makes them easier to place. Our adult cats will love on you for hours. It has been scientifically proven that petting a cat can lower your blood pressure, reduce anxiety and release endorphins.
- Bathing puppies.. needs no explanation…just plain fun!!
- Taking dogs on their daily walks
- Going along on a “rescue” mission with Ricardo
- General cleaning
- Greeting visitors
These are just a few of the many fun ways to spend half of a day. Volunteering for the HSCI is extremely gratifying both emotionally and spiritually. Bring the family. We do ask that if you bring children they are always under your direct supervision. For more information you can email us at email@example.com
Puppy kisses from all of us at the HSCI
