Ideas for Totally Different Day Tours in Cozumel

Because Cozumel has so much to offer, it’s not unusual to hear about vacationers on their 7th or 8th trip to the island. As a result there’s a lot of island explorers out there looking to broaden their adventures past a day at a beach club or a dolphin swim. Cozumel 4 You readers have been asking for day trips that are off the beaten path, so we’ve compiled a list, which is far from complete, about some of the newer, smaller of different tour operations here on the island.

Mexico Silvestre Wilderness Outfitter, Cozumel Canoe Tours –

Discover Cozumel’s wilderness in this unique expedition through naturally protected coastal and inner lagoons. Bird watching, wildlife and incredible scenery are the main focus of these canoe adventures. Traveling by canoe you can reach places that are otherwise not accessible. Mexico Silvestre is the only outfitter in Cozumel offering this experience. Robert Cudney, the former National Park director, a seasoned nature guide and conservation photographer, has opened up a World for others to share in his passion by creating these unique expeditions. eslabonperdido@yahoo.com, or 01 987 876 0667

El Cielo Snorkel Trip with Albatros or Blue Angel

What’s your idea of heaven?  Is it swimming in warm crystal clear turquoise water with starfish everywhere?   Here in Cozumel, heaven is called ‘El Cielo’!  Spend your day soaking up the sun and scenery on a nice slow boat ride to the southern point of the island.  You’ll be on a large, comfy boat with plenty of shade. Our crew gives you VIP service the whole way, starting with our famous Margaritas, rum punch or your choice of rum or vodka cocktail, plus plenty of beer, sodas or purified water.  And some delicious snacks to munch on along the way.   When the boat arrives at El Cielo, you’ll jump into the clearest water you’ve ever seen, with a white sandy bottom chock full of the most beautiful starfish. Advance reservations are required.  Please contact us to confirm availability. Bring a biodegradable sunscreen, towel, hat, camera, money for tips. Cozumel Pearl Farm –

Cozumel Pearl Farm is a family owned and operated pearl farm nestled in a beautiful white sand beach on the north shore of Cozumel Island. Being the only active Pearl Farm in the Caribbean, Cozumel Pearl Farm is located in a natural protected area that remains pristine and untouched; it is only accessible by boat since it is surrounded by the mangrove lagoon ecosystem on one side and the fascinating turquoise color waters of the Caribbean on the other. Conceived as a project of research and development of the species Pinctada radiata in 2001, this spectacular place opened its doors for ecotourism in early 2012 with the purpose to promote responsible travelling and preserve the area in its untouched state for future generations to enjoy.Be one of our exclusive guests, enjoy this unique experience and become part of our project.Off the beaten path… Where tourist become travelers. Join us on this authentic and unique experience.Let us share our piece of paradise with you and our passion for nature. Enjoy the amazing landscape untouched and in pristine conditions. Ideal destination for those who want to experience sustainable ecotourism away from crowds. We like to have small groups, so we can give you the best personal attention. 987 119 9216info@cozumelpearlfarm.com

Not interested in an organized excursion? One of my personal favorite ways to spend the day is to rent a car and drive around the island. That way if members of your party want to stop and visit San Gervasio, or Punta Sur, you can. There are several fun rustic beach spots to check out and enjoy on the windward, or “wild side,” of the island. You can even head all the way north and visit the Cozumel Country Club for a snack, and head down to the pier where the boats leave for Passion Island.
