Oceanman Cozumel 2025: Complete program, distances, and event details

From August 1-3, 2025, the island of Cozumel will host the tenth edition of Oceanman, the international open water swimming championship. This event, which brings together professional and amateur swimmers, will take place in the waters of the Mexican Caribbean.

With a program designed to challenge swimmers of all ages and levels, Oceanman Cozumel 2025 will include various events. The main distances will take place on Sunday, August 3, at a recently inaugurated beach club, where participants in the Oceanman (10 km) and Half Oceanman (5 km) will start at 7:00 AM and 7:30 AM, respectively. The shorter distances, Sprint (1.5 km), Oceankids (500 m), and Oceanteams (3 x 500 m), will be held on Saturday, August 2nd at the same venue, with starts at 7:00 AM, 8:45 AM, and 9:30 AM.

The event isn’t limited to the competition. On Friday, August 1st, the Cozumel Convention Center will be the meeting point for registration and the expo, followed by a technical talk at 7:00 PM. On Saturday, a second registration and packet pick-up session for the main events will be held at the Cozumel Convention Center from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. An important detail is that attendees and competitors will have free access to the competition area at the Beach Club.

Weather conditions promise to be ideal for swimmers, with an average air temperature of 33°C and water temperature of 28°C. The regulations establish that the use of a wetsuit is not permitted for any distance, and a personal safety buoy is mandatory.

Oceanman Cozumel is a qualifying event for the grand world final, the OCEANMAN World Final Championship, which will be held in Dubai in 2025. Swimmers who secure a spot in Cozumel will be notified by email the week after the competition.

Del 1 al 3 de agosto de 2025, la isla de Cozumel será la sede de la décima edición de Oceanman, el campeonato internacional de natación en aguas abiertas. Este evento, que reúne a nadadores profesionales y amateurs, se llevará a cabo en las aguas del Caribe mexicano.

Con un programa diseñado para desafiar a nadadores de todas las edades y niveles, el Oceanman Cozumel 2025 incluirá diversas pruebas. Las distancias principales se llevarán a cabo el domingo 3 de agosto en el un reciente inaugurado club de playa, donde los participantes del Oceanman (10 km) y Half Oceanman (5 km) arrancarán a las 7:00 AM y 7:30 AM, respectivamente. Las distancias más cortas, Sprint (1.5 km), Oceankids (500 m) y Oceanteams (3×500 m), se celebrarán el sábado 2 de agosto en el mismo recinto, con inicios a las 7:00 AM, 8:45 AM y 9:30 AM.

El evento no solo se limita a la competencia. El viernes 1 de agosto, el Centro de Convenciones Cozumel será el punto de encuentro para el registro y la expo, seguido de una charla técnica a las 7:00 PM. El sábado, una segunda sesión de registro y entrega de paquetes para las pruebas principales se llevará a cabo en el Centro de Convenciones de Cozumel de 4 a 7 de la tarde. Un detalle importante es que los asistentes y competidores podrán acceder al área de competencia en el Club de playa sin costo.

Las condiciones climáticas prometen ser ideales para los nadadores, con una temperatura promedio del aire de 33°C y del agua de 28°C. El reglamento establece que el uso de traje de neopreno no está permitido en ninguna de las distancias, y la boya de seguridad personal es obligatoria.

El Oceanman Cozumel es un evento clasificatorio para la gran final mundial, el “OCEANMAN World Final Championship”, que en 2025 se celebrará en Dubái. Los nadadores que logren un lugar en Cozumel serán notificados por correo electrónico la semana posterior a la competencia.
