A boon for island tourism & peace of mind ….

Healthy has recently released their annual report on the health of the Mesoamerican reef, the second largest barrier reef system in the world.

Cozumel was rated a 3.5 on a scale of 1 – 5, and the reef system scored a green rating, with blue being the highest available.

The organization Healthy Reef monitors the reef system in four different countries:  Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and Honduras.  The Mesoamerican reef system stretches from the tip of Cancun in Mexico down to the Isla de la Bahia in Honduras, over 1,000 KMs, and is considered to be home to more than a quarter of all marine life.
