Celebration of the Holy Cross of Sabat Cedral 2024

Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico – April 24, 2024
The official presentation of the program of activities and the unveiling of the official poster for the Cedral 2024 festivities, in honor of the Holy Cross of Sabat, took place. The event was held on the esplanade of the Cedral town in Cozumel, and was attended by municipal authorities, ejidatarios, special guests, and the general community.
The afternoon began with a colorful presentation of jarabes by the children’s group of the subdirectorate of culture, who delighted the audience with their talent and energy. Later, the official presentation of the program of activities was made by Mr. Gerardo Chan Cárdenas, director of general events for the municipality.
The program includes a wide variety of cultural, sports, and religious activities, which will take place from April 28 to May 3. Some of the highlights include:
- Cedral Classic 10k Foot Race and Cedral 2024 Cycling Race (April 28)
- Permission ritual to the guardians of Mother Earth (April 28)
- Coronation of the queen, godmother, most beautiful flower, queen of horsemen, flowers, buds and buttons (April 28)
- QR Dance Festival in the international dance competition (April 29)
- United by Tradition Family Rally (April 30)
- Children’s Day Festival (April 30)
- Musical performance by Alacranes Musical (May 1)
- Peninsular vaquería (May 2)
- Artistic and cultural event of workshops (May 2)
- Presentation of Tony Gradiel, the Caribbean Dragon (May 2)
- Offerings and dances in honor of the Holy Cross of Sabat, yolote yolotle cuaco (May 3)
- Traditional dance of the pig’s head (May 3)
The Cedral festivities are part of the cultural identity of the municipality and the state of Quintana Roo. These festivities are an opportunity for Cozumel families and visitors to enjoy our traditions and folklore.
The unveiling of the official Cedral 2024 poster was carried out by municipal authorities and ejidatarios. The poster is a colorful and vibrant work that reflects the joy and festive spirit of the celebration.
The Cedral 2024 festivities promise to be an event full of tradition, culture, and fun for the whole family. The general community is invited to participate in the different activities and enjoy this important Cozumel festival.

Se llevó a cabo la presentación oficial del programa de actividades y la develación del póster oficial de las fiestas del Cedral 2024, en honor a la Santa Cruz de Sabat. El evento tuvo lugar en la explanada del poblado del Cedral, en Cozumel, y contó con la presencia de autoridades municipales, ejidatarios, invitados especiales y la comunidad en general.
La tarde dio inicio con una colorida presentación de jaranas a cargo del grupo infantil de la subdirección de cultura, quienes deleitaron al público con su talento y energía. Posteriormente, se llevó a cabo la presentación oficial del programa de actividades, a cargo del licenciado Gerardo Chan Cárdenas, director de eventos generales del municipio.
El programa incluye una gran variedad de actividades culturales, deportivas y religiosas, que se desarrollarán del 28 de abril al 3 de mayo. Entre las actividades más destacadas se encuentran:
- Carrera pedestre clásica del Cedral 10 k y carrera ciclista Cedral 2024 (28 de abril)
- Ritual de permiso a los guardianes de la madre tierra (28 de abril)
- Coronación de la reina, madrina, flor más bella, reina de los cabalgantes, flores capullos y botones (28 de abril)
- Festival QR Dance en come internacional de la danza (29 de abril)
- Rally familiar Unidos por tradición (30 de abril)
- Festival del día del niño (30 de abril)
- Presentación musical de Alacranes Musical (1 de mayo)
- Vaquería peninsular (2 de mayo)
- Evento artístico cultural de talleres (2 de mayo)
- Presentación de Tony Gradiel, el dragón del Caribe (2 de mayo)
- Ofrendas y danzas en honor a la Santa Cruz de Sabat, yolote yolotle cuaco(3 de mayo)
- Baile tradicional de la cabeza de cochino (3 de mayo)
Las fiestas del cedral son parte de la identidad cultural del municipio y del estado de Quintana Roo. Estas fiestas son una oportunidad para que las familias cozumeleñas y visitantes disfruten de nuestras tradiciones y folklore.
La develación del póster oficial del Cedral 2024 estuvo a cargo de las autoridades municipales y ejidatarios. El póster es una obra colorida y vibrante que refleja la alegría y el espíritu festivo de la celebración.
