The fulfillment of a young man’s dream

The Mexican Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) through the military garrison in Cozumel has fulfilled the dream of a young Cozumel man with cerebral palsy who wanted to be a soldier for a day; so, he was named “Honorary Soldier” in the diving category and spent time with the members of the military who also showed him the installations.
Last week we shared with you an article with the story of Emiliano Isaí Tec Chulim who, at 18, had dreamed of visiting the facilities of the local military cam. This came true a few days ago and today we bring the story to you.
The event was held at the new installations of the Special Forces Combat Diving Training Sub-Center of the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), located at the beginning of the northern hotel zone.
As we mentioned before, Emiliano was born with cerebral palsy, and although the prognosis was that he would not be able to speak or to move, through the therapy and the support of his parent from day one, and with the great courage which all his loved one have witnessed, he has overcome his initial prognosis. At present he goes to high school and has also stood out for promoting local news through his social media.
Emiliano and his family live in Emiliano Zapata neighborhood, from where he was transported to the military camp. He confessed that he was not able to sleep the
previous as he kept wondering about how the big day would be.
Through acquaintances and his social media skills, is how Sedena’s staff was able to contact Emiliano and thus fulfill his dream.
It is worth mentioning that a uniform was made for Emiliano so that he would be presentable on the day of his appointment and to do the honors to the flag, properly wearing the special forces beret as well as the boots exclusive to the Mexican Army and the military insignias. All the action was supervised and presided over by Brigadier General of the General Staff, Óscar Olivares Miranda.
After the official ceremony had taken place, Emiliano was given a guided tour of the Special Forces Combat Diving Training Sub-Center, where Captain Gonzalo Piña explained to him some of the activities performed in different areas of the military diving Sub-center, and also referred to the discipline and physical strength that are required to belong to the Special Forces.
Emiliano was able to learn how to wear a mask. An explanation was given to him concerning priority tasks the Special Forces and Combat divers have, as well as of some items that are part of the heavy equipment the miliary members must use.
It must be noted that during the ceremony where Emiliano Tec received his official appointment as “Honorary Soldier” of the Sedena, he was joined by his CERMAR 33 COZUMEL classmates who also saluted the newly appointed “soldier”.
The title “Honorary Soldier” is given by Sedena to children with disabilities or a disease, thus recognizing their life’s struggles. This is how the lead character of our article was able to fulfill his dream.

El sueño cumplido de un joven

La Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (Sedena) a través de la Guarnición Militar del Campo Cozumel, cumple sueño de joven cozumeleño con parálisis cerebral quien
deseaba ser militar por un día, por lo que fue nombrado “Soldado Honorario” en la modalidad de buzo, y convivió con los uniformados quienes le mostraron sus instalaciones.
La semana pasada les compartimos el artículo con la historia de Emiliano Isaí Tec Chulim, quien a sus 18 años tenía como sueño, poder conocer las instalaciones del Campo Militar local, lo que se concretó en días recientes y hoy les traemos su historia.
El evento se realizó en las nuevas instalaciones del Subcentro de Adiestramiento de Buceo de Combate de las Fuerzas Especiales perteneciente a la Secretaria de la Defensa Nacional (Sedena), ubicadas al inicio de la zona hotelera norte.
Como les informamos, Emiliano nació con parálisis cerebral, y si bien su pronóstico indicaba que no podría hablar o moverse, con la terapia en la que sus padres lo apoyaron desde el primer día, y con el gran valor del que todos sus seres queridos han sido testigos, ha logrado superar su pronóstico inicial y hoy se encuentra cursando el bachillerato, además de que ha destacado por promover las noticias locales a través de sus redes sociales.
Él y su familia residen en la colonia Emiliano Zapata desde donde fue trasladado hasta el Campo Militar, evidenciando su emoción desde una semana antes, confesando que no pudo dormir un día antes por la inquietud de saber cómo le iría el gran día.
Por medio de conocidos y a través de sus aptitudes en sus redes sociales, fue que personal de la Sedena tuvo el contacto con el joven y así pudieron cumplir el sueño de Emiliano.
Es de mencionar que se le confeccionó un uniforme a Emiliano para que por la mañana estuviera presentable en el evento de su nombramiento y los honores a la bandera, portando adecuadamente desde la boina de fuerzas especiales hasta las botas exclusivas del Ejército Mexicano, incluyéndose la colocación de las insignias en la vestimenta, acción que fue supervisada y presidida por el General Brigadier del Estado Mayor, Óscar Olivares Miranda.
Después de la ceremonia oficial, Emiliano fue llevado para un recorrido guiado al área del Subcentro de Adiestramiento de Buzos de Combate, donde el Capitán Gonzalo Piña, le explicó algunas de las funciones que se realizan en las distintas áreas del Subcentro de buceo militar, refiriendo de la disciplina y fuerza física que requieren para pertenecer a las Fuerzas Especiales.
Emilio pudo aprender cómo es portar un visor, recibiendo una explicación de las funciones prioritarias de las Fuerzas Especiales y de los buzos de Combate, así como algunos objetos que forman parte del pesado equipo de los elementos.
Cabe hacer mención que durante la ceremonia donde Emiliano Tec recibió su nombramiento oficial de la Sedena, como “Soldado Honorario”, el joven estuvo acompañado de sus compañeros del CETMAR 33 COZUMEL, quienes también presentaron honores al recién nombrado “soldado”.
El título de Soldado Honorario es realizado por la Sedena para niños con discapacidad o alguna enfermedad, a fin de reconocer su lucha por la vida, y es así como el protagonista de este artículo logró cumplir su sueño.
