What it’s Like to Use Uniper

Lori Sifter, and Ex-Pat who now calls Cozumel home, she and her family ride Uniper quite often.  Lori said they chose to use Uniper to live more like a local, and that the transportation is actually more convenient than taking a taxi to a residential area.  She estimates that they use Uniper about 4 times a week, but now that school has started, its their daily transport to the school, which is right down the same route.

According to her it’s “very convenient and goes everywhere.  If you get on the wrong bus just ride it to Chedraui and they will make sure you get on the right one.”  As for the time it takes to get around, it can be as quick as a few minutes, or 40 minutes to get all the way across the island.

Her family lives right on one of the routes and uses the Uniper app to track the transport in real time, so they know when to leave the house.  For two adults and one child most rides cost them $20 mxn.  “The drivers are awesome about stopping, if you wave your hand, we try to be at a known stop but if they see you waving, they’ll stop too.”

Lori says that she’s “too lazy to ride a bike, too cheap to spend daily monies on a taxi cab, so the Uniper works great for us.  We have not experienced any bad situations in the 6 months we’ve been using the bus.  We give it 2 thumbs up.”

Lori’s final advice:  “On the etiquette side please if someone is getting on older than you, and the bus is full, please give up your seat for the elderly.  They ride the Uniper a lot.”
