For those who have never heard of Cozumel’s Fall Cultural Festival, I must tell you that it has been ongoing since 2003 and has been a great achievement to keep it alive for so many years. This is a on-profit event. Its purpose is to bring artistic and cultural events to the local community and visiting tourists, providing a forum of expression for artists of our country as well as to generate the culture of appreciating culture.
This Festival has been made possible through the Non-Profit Organization Circulo Cultural Arcano, which I direct, having, as well, the support from the private sector and community in general, who every year contribute resources, ideas and volunteers. This year we have organized the Festival together with Proyectos y Arte por Iberoamerica non-profit organization.
This 2021’s Festival is special because for the first time we have support from the federal government through the Ministry of Culture’s PROFEST program This will enable having two venues to present artistic events: Mexico City and Cozumel.
It is great opportunity to be able to offer more than 60 artistic and cultural activities, free of charge, with outstanding artists of our country, including artistic talents and proposals from Quintana Roo and, certainly, from Cozumel.
Cozumel’s Fall Cultural Festival will take place from October 6 to the 24th.
You can enjoy a wide range of cultural events in Mexico City from October 6 to the 10tj and on the Island of Cozumel from October 17th to the 24th.
So, this year we will be having many more events and more people will be able to enjoy the Festival with online or in-person activities, free of charge, in both cities. The program of activities in Cozumel includes 8 online events and more than 20 on-site events; among these: a collective mural, a cultural market, music and opera concerts, dance, lectures, talks, art workshops, among others.
As founder and director of the Cozumel Fall Cultural Festival, I am very grateful to the sponsors, family, friends and the entire community who have unconditionally supported the Festival. Thanks to them, this year we reach the 14th edition of the Festival.
If you live in or are traveling to Mexico City at the beginning of October, you will be able to excellent events taking place in different venues in the Country’s Capital. If you come visit Cozumel or live here, enjoy the events that will be taking place from October 17 to the 24th.
Due to the pandemic, the Festival did not take place in 2020, so this year’s Festival is special as the intention is to be part of the recovery of Cozumel’s economy, because during the pandemic the Island of Cozumel held only a few cultural activities.
While we have financial support from the federal government, this will be used to pay artists’ fees, so we are still having fundraising events for the Festival and invite the community to donate through our website. Ya viene el Otoño Cultural de Cozumel

Para quienes nunca habían escuchado que existe en Cozumel el festival Otoño Cultural Cozumel, debo decirles que lo hemos organizado desde el año 2003 y ha sido un gran logro que se haya mantenido vivo durante tantos años. Es un evento sin fines de lucro, que tiene como propósito ofrecer eventos artísticos y culturales a la comunidad local y turismo que nos visita y ofrecer foros de expresión para los artistas de nuestro país, así como generar la cultura de apreciar la cultura.
A través de la Asociación Civil Círculo Cultural Arcano, que dirijo, hemos hecho este festival, con la importante ayuda de la iniciativa privada y la comunidad en general, que cada año aportan recursos, ideas y trabajo voluntario. Pero este año estamos organizando el festival de manera conjunta con la asociación civil Proyectos y Arte por Iberoamérica.
Este 2021 es un festival especial porque por primera vez tenemos el apoyo del gobierno federal, a través del programa PROFEST de la Secretaría de Cultural para realizar el festival, lo que nos permite tener dos sedes para la presentación de los eventos artísticos: Ciudad de México y Cozumel.
Es grandioso poder ofrecer más de 60 actividades artísticas y culturales de forma gratuita, con artistas destacados de nuestro país, que incluyen talentos y propuestas artísticas de Quintana Roo y por supuesto de Cozumel.
El Otoño Cultural Cozumel se realizará del 6 al 24 de octubre.
Se podrá disfrutar de una amplia cartelera cultural en Ciudad de México del 6 al 10 de Octubre y en la isla de Cozumel del 17 al 24 de octubre.
Así que este año tendremos mayor número de eventos y más personas podrán disfrutar del festival con actividades en línea y presenciales, totalmente gratuitas, en ambas ciudades. El programa de actividades para Cozumel incluye 8 eventos en línea y más de 20 de forma presencial, entre ellos: un mural colectivo, un tianguis cultural, conciertos de música y ópera, danza, conferencias magistrales, diálogos, talleres de arte, entre otros.
Como fundadora y directora del Otoño Cultural Cozumel, me siento muy agradecida con los patrocinadores, familia, amigos y toda la comunidad en general, que han apoyado de manera incondicional el festival, pues gracias a ellos estamos llegando este año a la edición número 14 del festival.
Si vives o vas a viajar a Ciudad de México a principios de octubre, podrás disfrutar de eventos de muy buen nivel en diferentes foros de la capital del país. Si vienes a Cozumel o vives aquí, te invito a disfrutar de los eventos que se realizarán del 17 al 24 de octubre.
El año 2020 debido a la pandemia, no organizamos el festival, y este año estamos haciendo un festival muy especial, con el propósito de sumarnos a la reactivación de la economía de Cozumel, generando turismo cultural, y volver a ofrecer actividades culturales, pues durante este tiempo de pandemia, en la isla de Cozumel pocas actividades culturales se han realizado.
Aunque tenemos apoyo financiero del gobierno federal, éste será para cubrir honorarios de los artistas, por ello estamos aún haciendo eventos para recaudar fondos para el festival, e invitando a la comunidad a hacer donativos a través de nuestra página web. Una ex yanqui de Connecticut quien llama hogar a Cozumel desde hace más de 15 años. Laura escapó al Caribe hace años, desplazándose de una isla a otra dando clases de BUCEO. Se dedicó a perder el tiempo en Jamaica y finalmente se detuvo en Cozumel para pasar unas vacaciones de 2 semanas que aún no terminan. Convenciendo a sus padres que pagaran una elegante universidad privada, obtuvo su título en Periodismo y Laura crea semanalmente Cozumel 4You, medios sociales y artículos promocionales sobre la Isla y también es moderadora en el grupo Cozumel 4 You en Facebook que actualmente cuenta con 25,000 miembros. Fabián, s umuy tolerante marido, desde hace mucho tiempo se resignó a no tener vida privada, pues se ha visto implicado en los diversos proyectos y planes que urde Laura. Son orgullosos padres de diversos perros y gatos rescatados. Mientras contempla su paso a través de la vida en el Caribe mexicano,Laura continúa siendo la pesadilla en la existencia de su muy tradicional suegra mexicana.
