The Angeles Verdes, or Green Angels as they are known in English, have been hard at work this holiday season assisting motorists in need. Their services, which are available free-of-charge to both tourists and locals alike, help rescue people experiencing a problem with their vehicles. During this time of year, they often work from sunrise to sunset, helping a significant number of people, mostly on the windward side of the island. The Cozumel corps currently operate 2 vehicles, that primarily cover the island’s perimeter roads.
The most common problem they encounter is flat or punctured tires. Members of the Angeles Verdes have “basic knowledge” and can provide both gasoline or air. Their services are covered under the budget of the Federal Secretary of Tourism, as well as additional support from municipal authorities.
