Fishing Tournament in Cozumel: Celebrating the Participation of Women and Children

From the crystal clear waters of Cozumel, Quintana Roo, the excitement is expected to reach its highest point on May 11 and 12 with the celebration of the Second Cozumel Billfish Fishing Tournament-Mexican Boat Rodeo 2024.
Organized by couple Jefferson Marín and Brenda Itze Ortega Solís, this event promises to be a unique spectacle in which fishermen from various places will come together to capture and release billfish, sailfish and other emblematic species of the Caribbean.
With the natural beauty of Cozumel as a backdrop, participants will show their skill and passion for sport fishing while competing for prizes and recognition in an unforgettable experience.
But before the start of the competition, on May 10, the approach dinner will be held at Chankanaab, an adventure park located in the Arrecifes Cozumel National Park. This special event will bring together anglers, sponsors and fans, giving them the opportunity to meet each other, exchange experiences and prepare for the challenges that await them on the high seas.
The outreach dinner will not only be a time to strengthen ties and share anecdotes, but also an occasion to celebrate the camaraderie that unites the sport fishing community.
The 2024 Billfish Cozumel-Mexican Boat Rodeo International Tournament offers tempting prizes, with 400 thousand pesos for the winning team, 200 thousand for second place and 100 thousand for third place. This competition promises to be an exciting challenge for fishing enthusiasts, with the opportunity to win great rewards and enjoy the camaraderie between anglers.
But the highlight this year is the special attention that will be paid to the participation of women and children in the Mexican Boat Rodeo. Brenda Ortega Solís, treasurer and official spokesperson for the tournament, emphasized the importance of her role, announcing surprises and gifts for the first women to register, as well as for the first 50 boats.
The invitation is extended to fishermen from all over southeastern Mexico, with the promise of a unique experience of camaraderie and passion for fishing. From Playa del Carmen to Progreso, from Chetumal to Tulum, the participation of fishermen from all corners of the Yucatan Peninsula and the Mexican southeast is expected.
In addition, a children’s fishing tournament has been announced for Sunday, with a great response from the children, many of them children of renowned fishermen in the region.

Desde las aguas cristalinas de Cozumel, Quintana Roo, se espera que la emoción alcance su punto más alto los días 11 y 12 de mayo con la celebración del Segundo Torneo de Pesca Cozumel Billfish-Rodeo de Lanchas Mexicanas 2024.
Organizado por el matrimonio Jefferson Marín y Brenda Itze Ortega Solís, este evento promete ser un espectáculo único en el que pescadores de diversos lugares se reunirán para la captura y liberación de marlines, pez vela y otras especies emblemáticas del Caribe.
Con la belleza natural de Cozumel como telón de fondo, los participantes mostrarán su destreza y pasión por la pesca deportiva mientras compiten por premios y reconocimientos en una experiencia inolvidable.
Pero antes del inicio de la competencia, el 10 de mayo, se llevará a cabo la cena de acercamiento en Chankanaab, un parque de aventuras ubicado en el Parque Nacional Arrecifes Cozumel. Este evento especial reunirá a pescadores, patrocinadores y aficionados, brindándoles la oportunidad de conocerse, intercambiar experiencias y prepararse para los desafíos que les esperan en alta mar.
La cena de acercamiento no solo será un momento para estrechar lazos y compartir anécdotas, sino también una ocasión para celebrar la camaradería que une a la comunidad de la pesca deportiva.
El Torneo Internacional Billfish Cozumel-Rodeo de Lanchas Mexicanas 2024 ofrece premios tentadores, con 400 mil pesos para el equipo ganador, 200 mil para el segundo lugar y 100 mil para el tercero. Esta competencia promete ser un emocionante desafío para los amantes de la pesca, con la oportunidad de ganar grandes recompensas y disfrutar de la camaradería entre pescadores.
Pero lo más destacado este año es la especial atención que se prestará a la participación de mujeres y niños en el Rodeo de Lanchas Mexicanas. Brenda Ortega Solís, tesorera y vocera oficial del torneo, enfatizó la importancia de su papel, anunciando sorpresas y regalos para las primeras mujeres que se inscriban, así como para las primeras 50 embarcaciones.
La invitación se extiende a pescadores de todo el sureste de México, con la promesa de una experiencia única de camaradería y pasión por la pesca. Desde Playa del Carmen hasta Progreso, desde Chetumal hasta Tulum, se espera la participación de pescadores de todos los rincones de la península de Yucatán y del sureste mexicano.
Además, se ha anunciado un torneo de pesca infantil para el domingo, con una gran respuesta por parte de los pequeños, muchos de ellos hijos de reconocidos pescadores de la región.
El último día para inscribirse en el torneo es el 10 de mayo a las 00:00 horas. Este evento no solo promete ser una competencia emocionante, sino también una celebración de la diversidad y la pasión compartida por la pesca en las hermosas aguas de Cozumel.
