Rotary Club of Cozumel continues activities in the community

Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico – February 15, 2024
The Rotary Club of Cozumel has held various events during the month of February, among which two important donations made in the last two weeks stand out.
Continuous support for Cam Laboral Cozumel
On February 2, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Gran Viel, Texas, the Rotary Club of Cozumel delivered equipment and a donation of $4,000 dollars to Cam Laboral Cozumel. This educational institution serves people with intellectual and motor disabilities, providing them with job training and development opportunities.
For more than a decade, the Rotary Club of Greenville, Texas, has provided invaluable support to Cam Laboral Cozumel. Their commitment has allowed us to improve the conditions of the school and the quality of life of the students. The most recent donation included a stove, griddle, blender, mixer and other essential items to equip the school kitchen. This investment will increase the production of students and their ability to generate income.
Wheelchairs for a better quality of life
On February 14, the Rotary Club of Cozumel joined forces with the Chair the Love Foundation to deliver 20 wheelchairs to people with
special needs on the island. These chairs, valued at 106,000 pesos, were donated to individuals who really need them, providing them with greater mobility and quality of life.
The president of the Rotary Club of Cozumel, Juanita Ávila Hernández, expressed her satisfaction at being part of this significant event. The collaboration with Chair the Love arose through a Rotary member of the Rotary Club of Guadalajara, who facilitated contact with the foundation. With this alliance, the goal of helping many people who would have been difficult to access wheelchairs with these characteristics was achieved.
The delivery of the wheelchairs took place at the planetarium on the island of Cozumel, where the beneficiaries and some of their family members, members of the Rotary club of the island, the Rotary club of Guadalajra and members of the Chair the Love organization, attended.
These two donations are an example of the work of the Rotary Club of Cozumel with the Island and its community. Through joint efforts and collaboration with other districts, Cozumel Rotarians seek to support the most vulnerable people on the island.
At Cozumel 4 you we will continue to follow up on all actions that involve altruism in search of well-being for the island’s community.

El pasado Viernes 2 de febrero en una muestra de generosidad y compromiso comunitario, el Club Rotario de Cozumel llevó a cabo la entrega de equipo a Cam Laboral Cozumel, en colaboración con el Club Rotario de Gran Viel, Texas. Desde hace más de una década, los rotarios texanos han brindado su apoyo a esta importante institución, adoptando la escuela y proporcionando diversos donativos cada vez que visitan la isla.
En esta ocasión, además de juguetes y material didáctico, se realizó una donación de $4,000 dólares. Este gesto de confianza permitió a los rotarios de Cozumel adquirir una estufa, una plancha, una licuadora, una batidora y otros artículos esenciales para equipar la cocina de la escuela. Esta inversión será fundamental para mejorar las condiciones de trabajo de los alumnos y aumentar su producción, lo que les permitirá obtener ingresos para adquirir más materiales y continuar aprendiendo.
Durante los últimos doce años, el Club Rotario de Greenville, Texas, ha brindado un invaluable apoyo a Cam Laboral Cozumel, donando equipos como aire acondicionado, computadoras y cableado eléctrico. Su compromiso con la comunidad cozumeleña ha dejado una huella indeleble en la escuela y en la vida de los estudiantes, quienes se benefician directamente de estas contribuciones.
La entrega de este equipo no solo representa una ayuda tangible para la escuela, sino también un ejemplo inspirador de solidaridad y cooperación entre comunidades. El Club Rotario de Cozumel agradece profundamente el apoyo brindado por sus socios en Texas y reafirma su compromiso de seguir trabajando por el bienestar de la comunidad.
Entrega de sillas de ruedas del Club Rotario Cozumel en colaboración con Chair the Love
El dia de ayer miercoles 14 de febrero, hcieron otro acto de solidaridad y compromiso, el Club Rotario de Cozumel se unió a la fundación Chair the Love para entregar 20 sillas de ruedas a personas con necesidades especiales en la isla. Estas sillas, valuadas en 106,000 pesos, fueron donadas a individuos que realmente las necesitan, brindándoles una mayor movilidad y calidad de vida.
La presidente del Club Rotario de Cozumel, Juanita Ávila Hernández, expresó su satisfacción al ser parte de este evento tan significativo. La colaboración con Chair the Love surgió a través de un socio rotario del Club Rotario de Guadalajara, quien facilitó el contacto con la fundación. Con esta alianza, se logró hacer realidad el sueño de muchas personas que dificilmente hubieran podido tener acceso a sillas de ruedas con estas caracteristicas.
La entrega de las sillas de ruedas fue un momento emotivo, marcado por la alegría y la gratitud de quienes las recibieron. Muchos de ellos expresaron que era la primera vez que se beneficiaban de este tipo de ayuda, lo que resalta la importancia de iniciativas como esta en la comunidad.
Para el Club Rotario de Cozumel, participar en eventos como este es una oportunidad para hacer una diferencia real en la vida de las personas más vulnerables.
