The presentation took place at the facilities of Casa Misión Cozumel, where Gabriela expressed the commitment to the community and highlighted the various areas of opportunity that the association will address to improve the quality of life of those facing the challenge of cancer.
Meraki AC is an organization that aims to offer support beyond the medical aspect, covering areas such as psychological support, physical rehabilitation, legal advice, values and life, among others. The association seeks to fill the gaps that often go unattended during the cancer treatment process, recognizing that the fight against cancer involves not only physical recovery, but also emotional strength and comprehensive community support.
“We saw the need and decided to act. It was not an idea, it was a response to the needs of people facing cancer and their families.” The founder of Meraki AC, who is also a cancer patient, understands closely the shortcomings and challenges faced by those who go through this process. The association emerges as a concrete response to these needs, offering support in essential areas that are often overlooked.
Areas of Support and Services Offered
Meraki AC will focus on six main areas in its first stage of operation:
Nutritional Guidance and Support: Provide specialized nutritional counseling to improve the quality of life of patients.
Psychological Support: Address the emotional aspect of the patient and their families, providing psychological support throughout the process.
Physical Rehabilitation: Offer rehabilitation services for patients after treatments or surgeries, including those who have lost a limb.
Legal Advice: Guide patients on their rights, helping them navigate legal procedures related to cancer, such as wills and legal accompaniment.
Values and Life: Strengthen the spiritual and emotional part of patients through programs designed to cultivate resilience and hope.
Integral Medicine: Provide information and access to various therapies, including the innovative Tesla machine therapy, which will be offered locally in Cozumel to avoid costly trips to Merida, Yucatan.
Census, Patient Registration and Fundraising Activities
Meraki AC conducted a census of the affected population on February 8th and 9th at the Independencia Unit, with the aim of obtaining valuable information about the number of people affected and their specific needs. This census will allow the association to organize activities and provide the necessary support to the community. They have also already carried out several activities that not only seek to raise funds to support their operation, but also aim to raise awareness and educate the community about the different facets of this disease.

La presentación tuvo lugar en las instalaciones de Casa Misión Cozumel, donde Gabriela expresó el compromiso que se quiere generar con la comunidad y destacó las diversas áreas de oportunidad que la asociación abordará para mejorar la calidad de vida de quienes enfrentan el desafío del cáncer.
Meraki AC, una organización que tiene como objetivo principal ofrecer respaldo en aspectos más allá de lo médico, cubriendo áreas como la psicológica, rehabilitación física, asesoramiento legal, valores y vida, entre otras. La asociación busca llenar los vacíos que a menudo quedan sin atender durante el proceso de tratamiento oncológico, reconociendo que la lucha contra el cáncer no solo involucra la recuperación física, sino también la fortaleza emocional y el respaldo integral de la comunidad.

Meraki AC se enfocará en seis áreas principales en su primera etapa de operación:

Asistencia Psicológica: Abordar la parte emocional del paciente y sus familiares, proporcionando apoyo psicológico durante todo el proceso.

Asesoramiento Legal: Orientar a los pacientes sobre sus derechos, ayudándolos a navegar trámites legales relacionados con el cáncer, como testamentos y acompañamiento legal.
Valores y Vida: Fortalecer la parte espiritual y emocional de los pacientes a través de programas diseñados para cultivar la resiliencia y la esperanza.
Medicina Integral: Proporcionar información y acceso a diversas terapias, incluyendo la innovadora terapia de la máquina Tesla, que se ofrecerá localmente en Cozumel para evitar los costosos viajes a Mérida, Yucatán.
Censo, Registro de Pacientes y Actividades para recaudar fondos.
Meraki AC realizó un censo de la población afectada los días 8 y 9 de febrero en la unidad Independencia, con el objetivo de obtener información valiosa sobre la cantidad de personas afectadas y sus necesidades específicas. Este censo permitirá a la asociación organizar actividades y brindar el apoyo necesario a la comunidad. Tambien ya ha realizado varias actividades que no solo buscan recaudar fondos para soportar su operación, sino que pretenden visivilizar y concientizar a la comunidad sobre las diferentes facetas de esta enfermedad.
